In 1897, pilsner was the beer of choice at the TN Centennial Exposition, celebrating our state’s 100th anniversary. Nashville 1897 Pilsner is a traditional Czech pilsner brewed in the traditional Bohemian fashion using pilsner malt and Saaz hops.

Smells & tastes good, but it’s not as good as Pilsner Urquell.

12 FL OZ bottle
Served in an imperial becker glass
This beer pours golden with a slight haze. It is topped with a couple inches of beige head that leaves spotty lacing.
It has a sweet malty aroma. I get an abundance of grain smells. I grew up on a sheep farm and the smell reminds me a little of when we had sheep feed ground. I even get faint citrus aroma.
Sweet corn and malt flavors. Floral notes.
Medium bodied with a slick mouthfeel
Perfect if you like a sweet and grainy pilsner.

Poured into a Pilsner tulip. Beautiful light gold, almost brass, color. The head quickly fades. Tasting, it is crisp and smooth, with just a touch of fruit. No diacetyl on the tongue. Taste gives way from light bread and a hint of sulfur to some fruitiness and a slightly spicy, flowery touch of Saaz hops.
Most American brewers really screw up their Pilsners, but this is one of the best examples I’ve tried in the nation. Great job Nashville Brewing!

Beer pour a golden body with an inch of white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma of grain and some light hops in background. Taste is the same with biscuity malt with a crisp hop note on tongue. Finishes a little watery. Decent average beer. Locally, it takes a back seat to Yazoo's Daddy-O and Wiseacre's Tiny Bomb for pilsners.
