easily one of the more unique beers ive had in recent memory, ive had very little from these guys, but boy am i pumped on them. this is a collaboration with rare barrel, super cool a tight can ready to pop, spendy four pack but definitely worth it, this is right in my wheelhouse. canned wild ale, cool. this is done with fresh ginger, turmeric, and pineapple, its actually can conditioned with dole pineapple juice, sweet concept and the execution rules, really clever! love the combination of ingredients in here and how they show up, like freshly juiced, the pulpy spicy earthy essence of these roots, maybe the best use of turmeric i have ever known in a beer. its a little sedimented and sort of whitewashed looking, high airy white headed, soft banana looking yellow, decent bit of body, looks wheaty and starchy, but also super well carbonated, juicy. the nose is bretty more than acidic but some lemony pucker is here too, rustic and complex on the fermentation side, really neat, mature, i love it with the spicy natural ginger, the herbal healthful turmeric, and the obvious sweet pineapple, hints of white grape and coconut here too, this is summery and sexy but still grounded by grain, i can smell the dole pineapple juice for sure, it cant all be fermented out, real intriguing stuff here. the flavor is even more unique than the nose, i just love this being as fermentation forward as it is, it makes the high dosage of added flavors seem less gimmicky, even in their intensity, they are so well integrated. ginger and turmeric make it spicy and distinctive, a chai note meets the sweeter pineapple at the end, a little cakey with the grain, but never quite a dessert beer, thankfully no lactose or vanilla apparent in this. a white wine note, musty funk, pear juice, the canned pineapple juice all the way, and a pleasing finishing sweetness, tropical and fun, complex, fizzy, tart, and addicting. loved this one, never had a beer quite like it. unforgettable!
