Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance – The beer is served a deep brownish amber color with a one finger head of just off white foam. The head has a good level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave a good sum of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is rather strong of a roasted malt smell mixed with a little bit of cocoa and a touch of coffee. Along with these smells comes a little bit of caramel and molasses.
Taste- The taste begins with a more malty and lightly toasted bready flavor with a moderate showing of some caramel sweetness. As the taste advances the roastiness seems to decrease a little bit all while the caramel gets slightly more potent. Some other flavors of a light cocoa also work their way onto the scene adding a little bit of a “darker” taste to the flavor. Some light herbal tastes and a touch of nut come at the very end leaving one with a somewhat sweeter, and lightly roasty taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel- The body of the brew is medium in thickness and chewiness with a carbonation level that is on the lower side. For the more sugary (caramel/molasses) and brown bread taste of the brew the feel is good and makes for an flavorful sipper.
Overall – A slightly sweeter amber at 5.2 % but one with a nice flavor profile overall. Well worth a try at least.

16oz can. Poured out a dark amber color with a large, tan head of foam. It smelled of biscuity malt, bread and floral hops. Sweet and malty with a light piney bitterness. It was fairly crisp and smooth.
