Poured from a "boston" (howler). Thanks to my wife for mentioning this new brewery to me.
Appearance - Pours a rusty copper brown with two fingers of bubbly off-white head.
Smell - peaty and caramel malts, hint of earthy hops followed by hints of toffee, plum and raisin.
Taste - Peaty and caramel malts upfront. The earthy hops are quite mild. The hints of toffee, plum, and raisin follow suit. Mainly a malty brew.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with light to moderate carbonation. Finishes dry with a lingering sweetness from the malts.
Overall - A pleasant rendition of a scotch ale from High Line. This is my first sampling of this new Cowtown brewery and it was a very well brewed beer. Things are looking promising for craft beer lovers in Calgary.
