Can at Bottom Lounge

After having a GI beer I’ve wanted for a long time whilr I’m seeing Jeff Rosenstock here, I figured I’d go eith something local and classic. I never see my own local breweries doing Weizenbocks, so I’m thrilled to see this one. Let’s find out what it’s all about

Pours a clear copper gold with 2 fingers of creamy off white head that slowly fades to a cap and leaves decent lacing

This is decidedly spicy in the nose, much more than others I’ve had. I’m picking up on aromas of clove, earthy wheat, white pepper, herbal hops, bready malt, orange zest, and light banana

It’s odd, the taste is quite different and more full. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting orange zest, overripe banana, brown sugar, dark bread, earthy wheat, plum, and herbal hops. The swallow brings notes of plum, brown sugar, clove, overripe banana, orange zest, peppery hops, and light honey

A medium body pairs with moderate carbonation, resulting in a creamy beer. Finishes neutral but a bit too heavy

A pretty damn weird one overall, not really true to style but also not bad

12 oz can into a tulip glass. Pours a turbid orange-tinted amber color with a huge foamy off-white head that left rings of sticky lace on the glass. Smell is rather muted; hard to discern much beyond a little bit of the spicy wheat. Taste is much more vigorous with dark fruits (plum, rum-soaked raisins), esters, and spicy wheat. Really subtle and balanced, a lot of different flavors but none are overpowering or dominate the palate. Medium-bodied mouthfeel.

Had on tap. Thought this was wheat forward weizenbock that did well to bring some balance in at the end with a blast of dark fruit and mellow wood. Has subtle underlying savoriness I can't quite place but is pleasant. Smell was a bit dulled in comparison with the wheat and malt ruling. Overall nice work

Pours a hazy cloudy dark nutmeg color. Thick frothy off-white head dissipates steadily leaving lots of off-white lacing on the beer.

Aroma has notes of spicy nutmeg, wheat, fruity esters, dark fruits, and some banana. Aroma is essentially a textbook example of the style.

Taste is quite spicy up front. Gives way to some nice nutmeg, banana, dark fruits, esters, and some nice wheat notes on the back end.

Feel is medium bodied with some vibrant carbonation.

Overall a very nice weizenbock - traditional and classic.

7% dark orange hue. This beer is delicious I can't think of a better expression for the Weizenbock style. Super fruity and estery, the yeast is really doing its job with this one
