Seeing the brewhouse in blue stained glasses, Rock House is anything but blue rolling out a supple, sour and succinct ale that's slathered with generous blueberry additions for a fruit forward taste that'll have area wide sour sippers something to drool over. It's a beer that just might require a moist towelette.
In true adolescent form, I Just Blue Myself plays on words as it plays on the eye with a purple and light crimson hue. Light haze adorns the glass as a dainty swirl of foam rises to the rim. Tart aromas pull from the robust fruit for a bold yet bright scent of wine, cider, citrus and berry. A light candied and cobbler taste is wheaten sweet with saltwater taffy and sourdough.
The blueberries splash against the middle palate with a juiciness that's remiss of grape juice with the essence of plum, raspberry and blackberry stewing under the surface. The beer is supported well by a medley of lime, grapefruit, green apple, green grape and gooseberry from the base taste. A hint of burlap and balsa step in to give a gentle earhen complexity to the intensifying sourness late on the palate.
Medium light and not quite up the g sourness of true Liepzig gose, a hint of brine brings roundness to the acidity and fruit and fosters a bolder taste and texture than what is likely actual. A medium short aftertaste of berry skins and light tannins provide a juicy but dry finish with a drift of sea air.
