And we're back with more Skyroc after I had my first beer from them last week, which I thought was really good. This is another unconventional one, a honey infused amber ale. Honestly, this seems like it'll work, given the honey-eqsque notes often found in the style. Let's see what it's all about
Pours a a cloudy deep amber with an orange glow around the edges and 3 fingers of rocky light tan head that slowly fades to a cap and leaves minimal lacing
The honey really isn't all that prevalent in the nose here, opting for more of a classic red malt bill with supporting hops. I'm picking up on aromas of red malt, earthy spicy hops, a touch of wildflower honey, and fresh baked bread
Ok, there's the honey hiding in the back end, smoothing things out a bit On the front end of the sip I'm tasting spicy red malt, golden raisin, earthy hops, and general citrus. The swallow brings notes of earthy hops, white pepper, smooth honey, and crisp bready malt
A medium body pairs with moderate carbonation, resulting in a slightly sticky beer that is probably a bit too high in abv for what it is. Finishes off dry with a hint of spice
This one was pretty average, and the honey didn't really add much to it. It was worth a shot, but there's much better options for the style that are available
