1L howler from Sherbrooke, where they apparently don't care to actually label these things - imagine my ignominy at having to look this one's name up on one of those 'other' sites.

This beer pours a sort of murky, amber-highlighted, dark brown colour, with three fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and rather bubbly tan head, which leaves some decent webbed lace around the glass as it evenly sinks out of sight.

It smells of gently roasted, bready and doughy caramel malt, bittersweet cocoa powder, day-old coffee grounds, cold cream, and some ethereal earthy, musty, and dead floral hops. The taste is grainy and bready caramel malt, some minor free-range ashiness, cafe-au-lait, chocolate pudding, a soft black stone fruitiness, some indistinct earthy spice, and more well-understated earthy, herbal, and musky floral hoppiness.

The carbonation is adequate in its palate-supporting frothiness, the body a solid medium weight, and mostly smooth, with nothing really a cause for concern at this particular point in the process. It finishes off-dry, the cocoa and coffee essences predominating.

Overall - this is certainly one of the better offerings that I have yet had from this still new-ish Alberta craft brewing concern, so I'm glad to see improvement. At any rate, full of flavour, and the extra 2 points and change of ABV are nowhere to be seen. Keep up the good work!
