Canned Oct 15/20 so a month old. This iteration listed at 8.0% ABV 70 IBU.
Pours a bright uniformly mildly hazy burnt bronze/pale orange with 2 to 3 fingers of tight foamy head that settles with a creamy white cap.
Aroma piney resin on the head, tropical fruit, over ripe orange, a burst of dankness, and bready caramel malt.
Taste starts with a mixture of sweet citrus, pineapple, tropical fruit with a side of piney resin and a hint of dankness over a caramel malt backbone - the hop flavours integrate well with really minimal bitterness.
Medium pushing to full side on mouthfeel, decent carbonation with a bittersweetness that allows sweet to dominate at the finish.

Appearance - Pours a pale copper with three fingers of foamy white head.

Smell - Citrus and piney hops, pine resin, earthy yeast aromas, grapefruit peel/pith, citrus fruits, bready malts, hints of caramel.

Taste - All the hops come into play, supported by a bready malt backbone. Hops marry well together and are forward in the flavour. Hints of caramel sweetness in the finish.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate to high carbonation. Finishes sticky on the palate.

Overall - For my first Outcast Brewing beer, this beer showcases the best of both worlds when it comes to IPA-style hops. A stand-out brew that conceals a higher ABV.

473ml can - so named because this was supposed to be a batch of their breakfast stout, but with Patrick the brewer having a new addition to his family, Daddy Brain sets in, and the right amount of malt was not ordered. So working with what he had lying around (and could quickly procure, so, hops), he's created another DIPA - fine by me, and I always appreciate self-deprecating label humour.

This beer pours a clear, medium copper amber colour, with four fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and bubbly off-white head, which leaves some splendid spooky spiderweb lace around the glass as it lazily evaporates.

It smells of big, juicy blood orange and red grapefruit rind, a further mixed tropical fruitiness, some mildly dank pine resin, a respectable bready and doughy caramel malt, some subtle damp minerality, and more leafy, weedy, and gently lit-up floral green hop bitters. The taste is gritty and grainy caramel malt, blended Florida citrus goodness, some guava, melon, and pineapple exotic fruity notes, sticky pine needles, clean wet rocks, and more sassy leafy, earthy, and musky floral hoppiness.

The carbonation is quite timid in its lagging frothiness, the body a solid middleweight, and generally smooth, as the hop overload is apparently of the benevolent sort here. It finishes well off-dry, the grand fruity essences and surprisingly capable malt locked in a lingering embrace.

Overall - well, happy accidents are so-called, because they are exactly that. No breakfast stout for a while? That sucks. Oh, but look over here, we made another stellar hoppy offering, and had a bit of fun with it all. Speaking of fun, the 8.2 points of ABV are expertly hidden, making for a highly drinkable (with an asterisk, of course), hop-fueled experience. Great stuff!
