Slay Bells Ring is pale amber colored, edging towards the color of lemon rind. It's as murky and cloudy as a NEIPA ought to be. The head is cloudy, off white, and lasting.
On the nose, Slay Bells is intensely hoppy, full of citrus and ripe, tropical fruit. The yeast laced aromas of fresh, rising bread dough provide a base for the rest of what Slay Bells has to offer. Hop aromas are full of lemon, pineapple, and what smells like fresh squeezed orange juice. The finish is short and dry.
Flavor wise, Slay Bells Ring is intensely, assertively hoppy. Flavors of yeast and fresh baked bread provide a base for other flavors, keeping the hop profile from crossing the line from assertive into oppressive. As with the nose, hop flavors dominate giving me flavors of lemon, pineapple, and hints of orange juice. The finish however, is much more bitter and pronounced, apt for a beer of this style.
It's big, bold, and assertive which could be thought of as both good and bad. On the one hand it's great IMHO because it's as big and bold as an IPA of any type should be. It's full of the big flavors and intense hop character you'd want from a beer of this style. On the other hand, it might be a bit much if you're new to the style. So if you are new, be warned. This beer's a big 'un.
