We decided to celebrate with Oktoberfest in the old tradition of a Marzen Lager Style. Different from our regular Fest Bier this lager is maltier and more rich in flavor with an appetizing bitterness that serves to balance rather than
challenge the malt underpinnings. Breadlike, malty sweetness and firm bitternes makes this traditional old style Oktoberfest bier very appetizing, Prost!

Handsome clear reddish amber brew with a big pile of foam in the PIlsner glass. This is maltier and richer than the regular "Fest Bier." Clean and malty with just enough sweetness. Tangy on the tongue with a modest bitter edge to balance the touch of caramel. Ideal grainy, fruity, straw aroma.
This must be the best Märzen I've tasted. No wonder Chuckanut keeps winning awards, though oddly enough this one hasn't. I just hope they'll put it in 16 oz cans. Tried this on tap at the Bellingham restaurant and from the 32 oz growler.

The best local example of how an Oktoberfest should be. Chuckanut is a bench mark for any German lager in the PNW and USA. Great feel, aroma, look and taste. Truly one of the best this year.

Poured from a mini-growler into a Celebrator pokal. Pours a medium to dark coppery amber with a one finger off-white head with good retention and lots of lacing. Aroma of grainy and biscuit malt, apple, pear and a hint of toffee. Flavor is rich mixed grain malt with a little caramel, dried light stone fruit, apple with a light grassy hop and biscuit malt finish with a little husky grain bitterness. Medium bodied with light creaminess and good carbonation. This is a very nice malty fest beer, with great lager character. The malt has good depth; mostly the classic grainy biscuit, but with hints of caramel and light fruit. The bitter grain husk flavor that is characteristic of this style is present, but supported very nicely by the semi-sweet malt flavors. The grassy hops are traditional and taste particularly fresh, which makes this local Oktoberfest a particularly good taste due to lack of storage and travel. One of the best Oktoberfest lagers I've had. Chuckanut is known for its fine German style beers, and it shows here.
