Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a medium golden orange with a quarter finger white head that dissipates to a thin, persistent film with light lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, muted citrus, orange, overripe stone fruit and a light floral note. Flavor is mildly caramel malt with bready notes, orange citrus, apricot, raisins and a little vanilla. Medium bodied with moderate creaminess and nice mouth feel. Looks and smells like an English barleywine, but the flavor is more like a hybrid with the American style, with bright citrus character and subdued dark stone fruit. Lots of other flavors float through with vanilla and hints of hops being the most notable ones; although this has only a touch of hops, unlike most non-English barleywines. The flavor seemed a bit subdued at first, but its so well balanced and has enough going on that it really grew on me. Nicely done. I think I have a barrel aged one somewhere I'll have to pull out of the cellar.

On tap at P-nut
The nose has a lovely blend of Vienna malt bready notes and deep kettle caramelization, an initial note of cereal that dissipates. A mild fresh Maris Otter like malt character. The palate opens creamy, medium full in body, mildly sweet with bread, caramel, nutty, earthy and a little bitter to complement the sweeter malt flavors. Medium full in body, creamy, mildly sweet finish. Touch of vanilla.
