I had this beer on-tap in a half-liter pub glass at the brewery in Burlington.

Appearance: rich amber-golden hue with a finger of frothy ivory foam and a totally clear body.

Smell: slightly biscuity malt aroma with a dose of caramel and yeastiness. It absolutely has a classic Negra Modelo type aroma!

Taste: much like the aroma, caramel and biscuit malts with a nice lager yeast character. Maybe a little biscuity for my taste, but a solid take on the style.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.

Overall: a solid Mexican dark lager, if perhaps not totally tuned to my palate.

On tap at P-nut

A clear dark amber with a dense,off-white head with good retention and lacing. The nose is classic Chuckanut lager with the earthy, leafy hop character and a clean, toasty, creamy, amber with cocoa, light caramel, toffee. The palate opens mildly bitter, earthy and leafy. This is followed by caramel, toffee, cocoa, mild chocolate. Mildly sweet finish. Very good.
