Our Japanese Style Lager is fresh and easy drinking with a light body created by the use of rice flakes. A mix between traditional Japanese brewed lager and a Helles lager this beer is always crisp and sparkling, with a dry finish.

Can into Nucleated Pilsner Glass (Canned on 10/9/25)
Look: Slightly cloudy straw yellow, pouring a frizzy 1 finger head which quickly dissipated to a cap
Smell: Crackery malt, lemony, some mineralness, and floral hops. Medium strength nose
Taste: Crackery malt, with a puffed rice flavor. Sweet and lemony. Floral hops adds a very light dose of bitterness. Finish is quick and carries down the crackery malt with a touch of yeast
Feel: Light bodies, moderate carbonation, clean, soft texture, and crisp finish
Overall: Amazing beer. Delicate and clean beer. Super crushable and refreshing

Very clean, crisp, and drinkable. Lots of lemongrass and bright, floral hops over a biscuit malt backbone.
Exceptionally dry and effervescent, yet soft and smooth.
A fine example of a Japanese rice lager.

Crystal clear, pale yellow body; very active carbonation, swirling and roiling; thick, frothy, white head. Delicate cracker-like nose; a touch of mineral-like background. Incredibly refined and delicate flavor; subtle biscuit and cracker malt base; nuanced hop bitterness; extremely mild herbal hop flavor. Light body; smooth with a refined softness; mysteriously dry and powdery.
I do rate beers as being better than the sum of their parts. This beer easily meets my subjective standards. The heart of the matter is the taste and mouthfeel. For the style - one that I take as a light and dry beer overall - exceeds any other examples of Japanese-styled lagers using rice. It's the fullness of flavor and the incredibly pillowy mouthfeel that sets this beer apart from others of its kind. This is just one fabulous beer.
ABV: 4.8%; pouring temperature: 41.5 °F; canning info: n/a

Clear golden brew with plenty of foam in the Stella goblet. Pleasant malty nose and crisp, sudsy mouthfeel. Not much to say about this, but for a light lager the Japanese Rice style is my favorite. Subtle flavors of cereal or maybe even rice! A chaste kiss of hops. Refreshing and worth savoring. Although I like the pFriem version better if we're having a fight between the Lager Kings. From the 12 oz can purchased at Elizabeth Station. Not seeing a date.
