A dark, spiced winter warmer reminiscent of English Christmas pudding. Look for hints of sweet toffee, candied orange, and dark fruits mingled with cinnamon and nutmeg. Bottle Conditioned (or Cask).

Cask pour at the brewery. Pours a dark amber with little head or lacing. Aroma and flavor feature light spice, dark fruit, caramel malt, and a slight sour twinge. (Has this cask been around since Christmas?) Mouthfeel is soft and barely carbonated. Overall it's a solid winter warmer which I suspect may have seen better days.

Ruddy brown and muddy, this resembles dark iced tea. There is no head, rather only a thin, fine ring of light khaki foam. No lace forms on a PBGC Imperial 2 snifter.
The aroma has lots of Christmas spices, first among them being nutmeg. Sweet malt warms nicely, revealing figs, dates, and some undetermined type of berry.
The flavor is sweet, without being cloying, with a very light bitterness. The bitterness helps moderate the sweetness, and returns stronger in a lingering mild finish. Figs and dates are prominent, along with nutmeg and mince. The flavor is reminiscent of mulled cider, though unmistakably different. Warmth develops more spiciness and less sweetness.
A medium to full body with a silky smooth texture. Alcohol seems higher than expected. Carbonation is fine and fizzy.
This is a nice Winter Warmer, which I enjoyed while bottling a Saison. It added to a quiet day as the sun set. The only thing missing was a crackling fire at the other end of the room.
