With a laid back approach to sour ale making, Hoosier Brewing rolls the intensely packed flavor of honeydew melon into a tart, sweet and tantalizing sour ale. Now this is a honeydew list that we can all get behind.
Extracting a remarkable amount of character from the often understated melon, Roll The Fruit pours with a glowing lime green haze and with a faint sparkling froth. Floral, fresh and siding with the scents of citrus, cucumber, basil and white wine, a unique set of aromatics lead to a candied sweet taste of agave, cream candy, jolly rancher and smoothie fructose.
As the fruity sweetness splashes along the middle palate, a juicy kiwi, melon and herbal character mixes with the underlying sourness of lime, lemon and green apple for a sweet and tart interplay. Trending tart, the late palate shows a refreshing albeit sweet finish with the unique boldness of the honeydew fruit in full display.
Medium-full for sour ale but strikingly refreshing, there's a soft syrupy texture the limits the beer's refreshment but it tempers the tartness and highlights the fruit flavor to reveal an intensity of honeydew that no one expected.
