The appearance of this beer is the best thing about it. A nice dark golden color to it, however rather transparent. Pours a relatively thick head with pour retention. Overall though, for an Eastern European Lager, the beer is impressive in it's appearance.
Not much of a smell on this one. The grainy, skunky smell is present, and even a very faint smell of hop.
The taste is odd. I was expecting the skunky, grainy taste of European Lagers, and found that at first. However as the beer warmed the hop became more prevelant. Now I am a big fan of hops, but this taste just does not seem to fit this beer. I can not exactly pin point it, but it's odd, and I'm not a very big fan of it.
The beer is drinkable, and worth trying for two reasons: The odd taste for the European Lager and, 2) it's from Georgia, and I do not know of many beers that come from there.
If you see it, give it a try, it's cheap. But it's not anything I'd look for, or go back to buy.

The beer pours a hazy gold color with a thick frothy white head that quickly fades to lacing. The aroma is decent. It has that skunky green bottle smell, but it also has pale malt scent that's very nice. The taste is slightly above average. It has a dry breadlike maltiness to it. It is mildly hopped and has that skunky finish. The mouthfeel is average. It is a low/medium bodied beer with decent carbonation. The beer drinks decent, but it's one and done for me.

French in origin, this beer is now brewed under license in Georgia; and possibly other locations. However, I think it's different than the Castel beer brewed by SAB. The label reads Castel Beer and mentions something about being the "queen of beers".
It pours a clear golden body with a full head of bright white foam. The retention is fairly good and it holds well, but eventually drops to a thin surface covering and leaves only minor lace. The nose is limited, but offers a mild combination of malt and very light hops that most would consider to be a "generic" beer aroma. The flavor delivers an initial malt sweetness that's more sugary than grainy (indicating the use of adjunct) and accentuated by its medium body and fine but moderate carbonation. It becomes balanced, however, as it crosses the palate by a firm bitterness and spicy/herbal hop flavor that leads it into a short, dry finish. Similar to most Russian beers despite it's French connection; it's a somewhat interesting lager that's fairly drinkable but not really worth seeking out.
