Bottle from Beer World of Largo, FL.

Aroma holds cocoa, chocolate coated orange candies, chooclate malt and some light vegetal notes. Dark reddish brown with a firm thumb thick tan head. Fore is very thin and watery, but sweet citrus fruit and cocoa come out easily toward the middle. Lots of caramel in the finish...mild chocolate, nuts, but fresh..not roasty. It’s different. Very malty all the way through. Very low bitterness. Tasty, but very foreign to my American palate.

Pours a cream, three finger-head that goes slowly leaving a good lace. Misty, amber color. Light carbonation. Medium bodied. Nose is mix of malts and hops. Starts sweet some raisin flavor, finishes with a distinct hoppiness in the background. $2.44 for a 500ml bottle from Olivers Beverage Albany, NY. I needed this one for my 60th country.

The beer poured clear amber brown with a tan low head that persistently stayed in place to lace the glass.

The aroma was malty with deep dark caramel and some dark fruits, raisins and prunes.

The flavor was light with a caramelized maltiness and the same dark fruit aromas came through in spades in the flavor. Raisins and prunes ruled the day. Some slight chocolate flavors emerged as the beer warmed.

The finish was just dry with a slight chocolate flavor emerging in the aftertaste. The body was medium.

16.9 ounce green bottle. Back label may say 12-04-2003. A nice drinking beer with some good character.

It pours a dark mahogany with a slight haze and a tan head. The aroma has some anise and dark fruit as well as a metallic tinge. It tastes of licorice and sweet malt with some raisin. It finishes mostly clean, but there is some unpleasant burnt taste. This beer starts out okay, but doesn't leave much of a positive impression as the sip progresses or as it warms up.

I was a little bit skeptical when I saw a "dark" beer in a green bottle, but since I'd never had a beer from Georgia (or the Caucauses or the entirety of Central Asia for that matter) I thought I'd try it. It pours a hazy red-amber, with a little head that quickly dissolves. This beer has a very strange taste; its like a mixture of a pretty good lager and maple syrup. While the taste does have some good flavors peaking through, they're quickly subdued by the sickeningly sweet maple syrup flavor. Maybe the flavor was mutated by its LONG trek from Asian Georgia to Williamsburg, VA, as its green bottle renders it especially vulnerable. I don't know. But what I do know is that I'm not going to buy another one unless I'm in Asian Georgia (where I doubt that I'll ever be). Try it, but be prepared for some disappointment.
