brewed with sumac, a cool ingredient for an indigenous wild beer like this, and something kind of floral and citrus forward and mature and wild, summery, interesting, and thoughtful, all at once. this is the first of these i have seen on tap, and a delight to drink, really cool beer, they all are from these guys, not sure why they arent getting more global attention, the base wild beer in most of these seems to be up there with the very best of them as a funky saison type. here we have some tannic oak, a light golden malt base, and the sumac, which has elements of white tea, rose petal, jasmine, and notes of pomegranate and white pepper. its funky too, lots of brett and plenty of tang, at least as sour as any other of their beers i have had so far. i think there is a nice mellow essence to this too, a certain drinkability that hasnt always been their in their other beers, something about this just keeps bringing it to my lips, refreshing but also challenging in the kind of way i can engage with when i want to but am not trapped by. the sumac is neat, its not obvious to me in the way i thought it might be because i am not super familiar with it in nature as a food, but there is enough distinct about this to make it memorable and obvious to me. well matured, limey, floral, mineral forward, truly wild. i am starting to fall in love with this brewery!

375 ml. bottle.
Moderate to vigorous pour yields a 1/2 inch white head over a slightly hazy, straw colored body with some lacing. Nose of lemon, hay, and berries. Taste mirrors nose and then some. Very nice sour with some earthiness and a bit of spice. Finishes with berries and a touch of sweetness, or rather I should say less tartness. Nice feel and overall, another wonderfully intriguing offering from Greensboro Bend, VT. Cheers to Vasilios!
