This pours a slightly hazy straw yellow from the bottle, brief, light white foam that quickly subsides with very little retention or lacing. Nose is extremely bright with big, sour lemon and verbena notes right off the bat; pine needles, pine cleanser, and musk follow. There's some sappy sweetness as well that's in there, especially as it warms. Taste has musk and pine notes right off the bat; only slightly sour and very dry, which was unexpected. The taste certainly lingers, also like biting into a scented candle (though not in a bad way). There's a bit of hop character in here as well, particularly up front, provides some backbone. Feel is very light with small and attenuated carbonation. Really enjoyed this one - worth seeking out.

500 ml; 5.2% alc/vol.; Bottled in July 2022 and purchased at Wunderkammer's Wolcott Bottle Shop in November 2023.

Appearance: Pale straw; slightly hazy.

Aroma: I would've described the aroma as mainly cedar if I didn't already know this beer was brewed with Balsam fir tips. The fir scent is strongly present but not intense, just as if you stepped into a pine grove with that fresh forest smell hanging in the air. There's also a hint of fresh lemon in the background.

Taste: The flavor matches the expectations set by the aroma: Balsam fir and slightly sour. The sour hits first then resolves to the earthy, slightly bitter fir notes and finishes with a very slight lingering sweetness. The sourness is pleasantly restrained throughout.

Mouthfeel: Medium carbonation; Full-bodied in a way that surprised me, verging on creamy.

Overall: This is an excellent beer. The aroma is inviting and immediately transports you to a tranquil coniferous forest scene. The taste is impressively balanced -- not too much sourness and not too much fir flavor, either of which could have easily dominated the beer. I regret only buying one bottle.

500 ml. bottle.
Bottled July 2022.
Bottle conditioned for 16+ months.

Moderate pour yields a one inch white head over a slightly hazy, light straw colored body with sticky lacing.

Nose of citrus and balsam fir needles and branches, I guess; definitely not pine or oak.
Very interesting!

Taste of citrus and a bit of pine-like flavor with a little something like white balsamic in the background before a bitter finish from the balsam fir and not necessarily from any hops. Very refreshing with a fairly gentle sourness from start to finish. Excellent!!

Great Wunderkammer mouthfeel with medium carbonation.

Overall, yet another wonderfully unique offering from Albany, VT and one worth seeking out.
Cheers!!!
