16 oz. draft served in a pint glass. It pours a cloudy, golden-orange with brownish hues and a half finger of fluffy, milk-white head with good retention and a thin sheen of creamy lacing. Sweet malt dominates the nose, along with faint lemon and grapefruit and and subtle hops. The taste opens with a strong dose of sweet Vienna malt. At mid-sip, I began to notice some subtle grapefruit and lemon. Throughout there is a flavorful blend of Enigma, Amarillo, and El Dorado hops that provide a dry bitter balance to the sweet malt. This ale is thick and creamy with moderate carbonation. You can feel the 8.5% ABV. This qualifies as a "big beer." Overall, this DIPA can be described as sweet and malty. If you like lots of fruit or biting hops, then Intertwined Souls probably isn't for you. I enjoyed it on a hot, sunny day in the respite of a cool hotel taproom. It has enough character to pair with a burger or cheese steak.
