Obtained a can of The Long Fall in a trade with a NJ resident who spoke highly of it. It seemingly had 2 negatives from my standpoint - a 10.7% ABV and the word "Milkshake" in the product description. My experience with "Milkshake" Beers has not made it a style that I would seek out but the few that I've tried have each been fairly unique so decided to give this one from Icarus a fair try.
Two great surprises - the beer had a definite vanilla/citrusy flavor that made it seem somewhat like an actual milkshake while, at the same time, the high ABV was nowhere near as dominant as I had thought it would be. I drank it slowly and enjoyed each mouthful. I wouldn't want more than one in an evening but wouldn't hesitate to acquire another if the opportunity arises. It was definitely unique but in a highly positive way. Good job by the brewers at Icarus in formulating this product.

This milkshake IPA does, in fact, taste like a milkshake. There is the absolute slightest warmth of alcohol as it goes down, but it's flavor is mostly comprised of citrus/vanilla. Not bad, but the difficulty in tasting "beer" in a triple (!) IPA brings it down a few pegs for me.

Can to Pilsner glass.
LOOK: Brown Orange. Deep Color. Mildly hazy. Big creamy head. Excellent retention.
AROMA: orange, peach, brandy. The most dominant aroma is something beautiful, but I don't know what it is. Almost a Pumpkin-y smell. Could be the vanilla mixed with the hops. Could be whatever Curuba is. Could be the lactose mixing with all of the above. It has an awesome aroma nontheless.
*post-note: looked up Curuba which is a flower known also know as Banana-Passion Fruit. Guessing that is the source of the aroma.
TASTE: citrus, peach, pumpkin, allspice, creamsicle.
FEEL: super creamy, ABV is apparent, light carbonation.
Very interesting and delicious beer. I am tempted to enter this into my annual blind pumpkin beer tasting this year even though it is technically not a pumpkin beer. It would blow away most pumpkin beers.
