Canned on 8/4/2021. Poured into a shaker pint glass. It pours a hazy, copper-orange color with a half finger of creamy, ecru-colored had and thick, clinging lacing. A subdued nose with lemon, grapefruit, floral hops, and a strong malt presence. The taste is malt-forward with a balance of caramel sweetness, dry wheat cracker, and bitter West Coast hops. It has pungent, earthy notes from the Columbus and Cascade, and bitter, resinous pine from the Simcoe. The taste improves as it warms in the glass. This ale is moderately thick and creamy with appropriate carbonation, and the 7.6% ABV gives it good substance. Overall, I seem to like this ale better than previous reviewers. It's the type of West Coast IPA brewed in the southeast - malty and bitter without overt citrus. I happen to like this "variant" of the West Coast style. I'd definitely drink Dare to be Stupid again.

Can’t be a coincidence the the Dare to be Stupid can looks like the artwork on the Weird Al album of the s ame name.
Pours reddish amber with a thick beige head. Aroma is hop floral and a caramel sweetness. Taste is mostly malty sweet though there is sufficient hop bitterness to keep it in the IPA range. Feel is decent, good body and richness. Overall it’s a decent IPA but Icarus has better offerings.
Still like the Weird Al reference.

can to snifter.
I am normally not a fan of strict west coast style IPA's, but this is smooth. Those strong pine and wood and sap flavors are all there, but subdued making this more enjoyable for me than some other higher touted samples of the same style.
Pleasant surprise and a great tribute to an album that will always be remembered. Bite off more than you can chew, what can you do? Dare to be Stupid.
