This was the last beer from Icarus that I traded for last week, as it might have been the best the I've ever had fro them. Didn't have the original iteration of Drinking Crayons but it's apparent that this one with the experimental HBC was enough to be rated nicely in my book!
Not a bad pour to this as it had a hazy hue like orange juice with a small, but decent-lasting head topping it off. Very little lacing was left behind as a thin, wavy hint of a ring remained near the top of my pint glass. Lots of apricot, soft tropical fruit, tangerine cream, and subtly dank hops were in the nose as the taste was much fuller and smooth than the aroma indicated. A lot of melon, with a bit of cherry juice, goose berry, and star fruit emerged in the taste as this went down so easily and feature the Mosaic, Azacca, Amarillo, and Columbus in good proportion with lots of earthiness, astringency, and funk to be found down to the last sip. A good amount of grapefruit and some scallion-like spice lingered in the aftertaste, which easily left me wanting more!
Hard to detect the booze here as I warmed up a bit before I had finished this off, although that was the extent of this beer's heft. The date on the bottom was illegible and so was whatever was written under it, but this felt and tasted fresh as there wasn't any sediment in the liquid or settled down before I took my last sip. Loved this beer and how nicely everything meshed together, as it's obvious that Icarus knows what they're doing!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
