Picked this up last week at ShopRite Liquors in Little Falls as I love Icarus and hadn't had anything from Kills Boro since the middle of last year. Didn't expect this to be a total winner but boy, did it sneak up on me as this was one of the better beers that I've had not just from these guys, but in quite some time!
This had a decent pour to it as the liquid was a turbid apricot with a sufficiently fluffy head topping it off. Plenty of big bubbles floated to the surface as the lacing left behind wasn't terribly extensive outside of a few wavy vertical splotches near the center of my pint glass. A lovely array of candied sugar, sweet peach, fresh cream, and a oats filled the solid nose as the taste burst forth with all of those along with tangy lime, lively wheat, strawberry juice, white wine, and strong stone fruit. Amazingly slick, balanced, and perfectly carbonated, this is everything that an Imperial IPA that aspires to be something lesser in heft wishes that it could be. Nicely hopped, neither the Mosaic, Motueka, or Wakatu overpowered the other two as they were plenty dank, dewy, and outdoorsy in nature while being curtailed by the sweetness and juice that easily left me wanting more.
Barely tasted the alcohol as I would have effortlessly reached for another can had I had one available. Dated 4/27 on the bottom of the can with "WILDIN ON STATEN ISLAND" written above it, this would easily win anyone over who wouldn't try an Imperial IPA because of the strength. Quite possibly the best brew I've had this year so far!
