Picked this up recently at ShopRite in Little Falls at I enjoyed the other iterations of Drinking Crayons and was pleased to find there there via a single can. Although this beer wasn't a disappointment, this did not live up to those other two as it was quite generic in flavor and not bursting forward with hop or fruit goodness during my session. Yes, Icarus has set that bar that high now!
The color to this was a muted apricot with a spongy, thick head that had all of the bigger bubbles settling towards the top. They settled nicely but to my surprise, there was *very* little lacing left behind as only a few dots of suds stayed behind along the bottom two-thirds of my pint glass. Lots of stone fruit like peach and apricot along with deep orange blossom, and a hint of mango in the nose as the taste was just as dank, fleshy, and clean in the back as the flavor transitioned to mint and pine. No taste of the coconut although the stickiness and tropical nature of the Azacca and Mosaic complemented it nicely.
Lots of hops here but they seemed to drown each other out a bit as the smooth and lip-smacking mouthfeel of this beer was the end result of this mishmash as the wheat and oats ensure that this would have plenty of body. The carbonation was light and the amount of alcohol was a tad too high as I wish this wasn't an Imperial IPA. Dated 7/6 with "WHICH IS YOUR FAVORITE?" written above it, this wasn't bad and had enough nectar in the undertone to hold everything together but with a few tweaks, this could have been great. Looking forward to seeing what featured hop comes next in this series!
