an absolutely outstanding example of a trendy style right now, just my second from icarus but a real winner, infinitely drinkable, and while i generally associate this type of lager with dryness, there is mid palate sweetness here that actually works to accentuate the hops, and the finish is still quick and refreshing, its distinctive and great. neat to see italian pils as its own style here on BA finally too, they do listen! a little richer blonde to this, nearly two inches of puffy white head from the tap, racing carbonation, and pretty good clarity, slightly more substantial than some, visually speaking. aroma is subtle compared to the taste, but is appreciably fresh, noble hop driven but with a fruitier feature, and the grain seems special too, wrinkles of yellow florals, waxy raw honey, and artisan white bread, pretty remarkable really, great minerality, subtle lager yeast, enticing. the flavor is almost strikingly flavorful, especially in the middle where that flash of sweetness comes into play, hints of lemon and cut green grass, lime leaf and zest, and again a honey note. green papaya fruitiness too, a huge contribution from what must be european grain, richer than typical pils, perfect for this, and then it dissipates pretty fast, quicker finish than even seems possible earlier, rushing carbonation ushers it out with just a bit of hop bitterness, but its the epitome of balance and drinkability, even with its structure, i just love it, unique and dialed, wicked pizza beer, super well lagered. another please!

I like The Sopranos reference, but that's about the only thing Italian about this "Italian" pilsner. Ingredients include Belgian and German malts, and German and Czech hops. The beer looks the part--clear, golden with a sturdy white head. The nose is barely there, but it does give you a slight whiff of grain. Flavor is where this beer really departs from the Italian pils model. Grain and biscuit is there, but there's the glaring absence of the crisp hop bite you'll get with legit Italian pilsners like Peroni or Moretti. The mislead cost this beer some rating points.

Nice crisp pours a clear light straw color, decent head. Typical bready, malty aroma, reminds me of Stella. Flavor is crisp, clean, great malt flavor with a slight bitter hop bite on the finish. Pretty perfect. Would buy again.
