Traded for this last night here in town and I figured that this would be Drinking Crayons on steroids and sure enough, it was! If you liked that offering from Icarus, you'll love this as this was certainly full, flavorful, and every bit as strong as promised - all with the color and variety as your 128 pack of Crayola!
Quite an interesting pour to this as the bottom looked like amber as this got progressively milkier the higher up I went. Lots of full and evenly-setting head topped this off as it took it's time to settle, while the liquid looked liked blonde Guinness as it settled down. Lots of spotty head remained after each sip although much of the suds settled down before I took my next sip. Tons of peach, nectarine, honey, fresh and floral hops, and candied sugar were in the nose as the taste closely followed suit. Full, boozy, and sticky, this had an amazing hop presence to it as the deep citrus, orange blossom, and stone fruit pith really came into play on the palate once this fully warmed up. Love the wheat and oats giving this depth as the carbonation was light as the aftertaste was just the slightest big dank, and plenty sugary.
Indeed, this was a hefty brew as I wanted to quaff it but wasn't able to because of how potent it was. Dated 7/18 on the bottom of the can with "EVEN MORE CRAYONS" written above it, this was a beast of a beer that like it's childhood counterpart, was an improvement over the original. No built-in sharpener needed here as everything was fine-tuned from start to finish. Grab a can of this and thank Icarus later, as this was easily among their better offerings!
