Another excellent beer from Icarus. A Russian Imperial Stout with a strong coffee flavor and an ABV of 9.6%. Malty and roasty.

Poured cellar temp from a can into a 16oz pint glass. Appearance is opaque black coffee, no light penetration. 2-finger khaki head which receded fairly quickly leaving
very little lacing behind.
Aroma is roasted coffee, malt, cocoa, faint smoke.
Taste follows the nose with a burst of roast black coffee, toasted malt, smoke, mild hop bitterness. There is an off-flavor component going on at the back that lingers. Has that dark roast coffee bitterness happening that sticks around, definitely not hop-related.
Mouthfeel is full. Decent amount of carbonation yields a smooth drinkable brew. As stated previously, there is an off-bitterness that sort of lingers at the back of the mouth and throat.
Overall this isn't my cup of tea, or coffee in this case. Too much coffee impacting this in a negative way with too much bitterness coming thru on the back. You can tell there is a fair amount of sweet somewhere in there, but the balance just seems 'off' to me. It was cool to grab a 4-pack of this on a road trip to Brick, NJ but probably wouldn't get this again.
