another fabulous wild beer from these guys in the little cork and cage bottle, cant get enough from them right now. this one is done with whole cluster pinot noir grapes, and is unexpectedly strong. either the label doesnt say its this strong, or i missed it, and the beer hides it well somehow, drinks delicate for what it is, but it definitely hit me pretty quickly! its not real lively from the bottle, a fizzy soda head rises up and settles almost instantly. the brew itself is hazy and pale pink, a little sediment in the bottom of this, nice color but overall not the most visually impressive thing. the aroma is real different and vinous and mature, medicinal funk almost like a good lambic, the tannins of the fruit coming right out too, and neat cranberry and raspberry hints in the wine grapes, really pretty sexy stuff, moderately tart it seems, without a big grain profile, and an obvious woody element. the flavor is similar, with the grapes and the fermentation profile driving it, tons of bretty funk, a bit of a lactic pucker, but exceedingly acidic or anything. the grapes are tangy and earthy and natural, and there is a lot from them in here, the whole cluster fruit is cool and uncommon i reckon, and its quite obviously pinot noir too as i let it warm, which is hard to do. the funk is next level here, and it makes my mouth water on the swallow of each sip, incredibly different, not the same old bretty profile, even distinct from other little beast beers i have had, likely some wild elements on the grapes coming into play. i could stand a little more carbonation in this, but its crazy its this strong and doesnt show any alcohol! overall an excellent beer, really clever and different from these guys, i have loved their wild stuff to date and will keep grabbing it as i see it in my travels. everyone who shared this with me thought it was awesome too!
