The beer is a clear amber, tinted with chestnut. A thin misting of head tops the beer, never growing or dissapearing. Good lacing, with sticky cobwebs of head clinging to the glass.
Aroma is estery and malty, with a touch of caramel and solid hopping. The balance is great, with hops providing a floral, slightly citric aroma. Hints of apple, pear and apricot. The barest touch of diacetyl, providing a buttery compliment to the malting.
Flavor is rich and robust, with excellent balance. Sweet maltiness, with a light caramel and crystal malt profile, and a fair amount of estery fruitiness. Moderate pear and apple flavors, with a suggestion of apricot or peach. The alcohol is completely hidden. Very light graininess, with a touch of diacetyl. A floral, herbal hop bitterness coming through the end, providing a lingering bitterness that perfectly compliments the malt. On a second try, I noticed a wierd strawberry flavor right at the end, as the beer starts to go down your throat.
Not the most complex beer, but certainly a fine session ale, even though the alcohol is a touch on the high side. Easy drinking and quenching.
