The beer, despite being a wheat ale, is black and opaque. A thick crown of ashy beige head tops the liquid. Excellent lacing, leaving a lot of head sticking to the pint glass.
Aroma is somewhat disappointing. Besides a moderate rootbeer aroma, the smell is essentially dead, besides the barest touch of soft wheat malt. Almost imperceptable hopping.
Flavor is also pretty weak, besides a moderate rootbeer flavor throughout the sip. Slight crisp wheat malt, finishing dry and the barest suggestion of saaz hops in the finish. If you break concentration, you miss it. The dryness is pleasant, with moderate effervescence. It's good for hot weather, but overly simple and dull. An interesting flavored wheat ale, I tried it more for the novelty of a root flavored beer.
