Served on-tap on 11/12/2010 at Willimantic Brewing Co.
A: Deep, dark, ruby-brown amber, near black, in color with a one-finger head of creamy, ivory foam.
S: Roasted barley and deep, fruity malt aroma combined with earthy, herbal hops. A little bit of charcoal and chocolate as well.
T: Good, roasted malt character with some oatmeal, tobacco and smoked wood qualities. A creamy blend of malts balances nicely with an herbal, bitter finish with some smokiness and pine hop resin.
M: Medium-full bodied feel with a slightly creamy, bitterness. Good balance.
D: A nice, roasted and not too smoky cold weather porter. Sturdy malt flavors, good hop presence and an ABV at 5.9% hearty enough to sip on with a beef tap sandwich or teriyaki beef wrap.

The Station A was a deep dark molasses color with lighter brown edges and virtually no head. From the looks of it it appeared to be a little watery. The aroma was very faint, tiny hints of chocolate but very hard to get much from the smell. The taste surprised me, starting with a hickory smoke flavor, then adding sharp coffee notes along with bittersweet chocolate. Like the restaraunt describes, it has a very complex taste yet is very easy drinking, and I would have to agree. Despite the watery appearance, this porter had a nice and medium bodied mouthfeel.
