Sampled this beer on a visit to the pub yesterday. Served in a pint glass slightly chilled. The beer pours a super dark brown with no light coming through. a small creamy beige surface layer of head floats easily on the brew.
Aroma is some chocolate and a strong roasted malt presence, also a bit of sweet ripe fruit, that I didnt expect.
Flavor is similar to the nose with roasted malt and chocolate mixing with lite coffee notes. The body is very smooth and creamy and the carbonation gently rolls across the palate. A very tasty brew that is quite nice and easy to drink.
Speaking with Dave about the beer he revealed that he actually burned a lot of crystal malt in the pizza ovens for this beer. I think it worked out very well!
