Draught @ Brewpub: This one pours a cloudy, coppery color. There was a negligible off-white head that left just a bit of lacing. It has a nice nose. Malts and pine hops are predominant . The taste is very good. It is extremely smooth. Pine hops to the taste, but somewhat subdued. There is some sweetness and it is not as bitter as some IPA’s Some caramel and fruits to the taste also. A very good beer.

Appearance: Poor pour from bart ender yields small head. I know this beer has more, however lacing is very unimpressive. Its dim in the pub but the color appears to be a darker amber.

Smell A weird veggie hop smell of cooked spinach, broccoli and grass as well a citrus hop smell. Slightest smell of the european pale malt.

Taste: Same veggie weirdness from the hops with a strong floral and cereal pale malt taste.

Mouthfeel: Very carbonated with a big bitter hop feel but not over bearing. Medium body and well balanced on the palate for an IPA.

Drinkability: A strange IPA Not perfect but had qualities I've never tasted in an IPA. A great concept on a more english style IPA. Would try again just to experience it

From a grolwer filled at the brewpub. Into a pint glass.

Pours a hazy dark amber (almost a plum hue) with a 1/2 finger of creamy brite-white head. Retains around the edges with some thin wisps across the center, that doesn't leave a whole lot of lacing behind. The aroma is a bit subdued at first but as I dig a bit deeper, I'm picking up some light notes of citrus, floral hops, sweet backing malts, and a just a touch of heat.

The taste is some fairly prominent juicy citrus character that mixes with backing caramel malts to impart a really sweet tasting base. This lies underneath a very subtle earhty hop bitterness that lingers with a dry feel. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a fairly creamy carbonation and maybe just a bit of alcohol beef to it.

Not bad. Much more of an English style IPA but I dug the citrus character and overall sweet tone of this, plus it had good drinkibility. I always welcome the chance to try an IPA from Willimantic.

(Found the review of this in my glove box from a trip to Main St. at the end of the summer).

Creamy off white head that settles quickly to a semi-intact sheet. Some dimpled lacing throughout with decent strength. Hazy, deep auburn in color.

Floral hops, pine, and a touch of lemon. Almost a moderately sweetened malt character that gives off a caramel aroma.

The malt character is semi-sweet and balances the pine and floral hop character rather nicely. The hop intensity is not as bulky as it is in most of Willi's IPAs, but this one really stuck out to me in terms of its well roundedness. A smooth, mellow bitterness followed by an aftertaste of light pine and floral hops with just a touch of caramel.

Medium bodied; mellow and smooth on the palate.

Well rounded in terms of flavor and on the palate. This worked really well with the tuna I had ordered; and would work great on its own, I would guess.

i think there's only one "I" in euripaen.

cloudy, hazy dark amber pour with a small ring of bubbles.. no head otherwise. smells sweet of caramel with lots of breadiness, a fresh hop character without any fruity citrus. nothing outstandingly european. tangy and rather spicy without an excess of hop bitterness. somewhat heavy and hot for 6.6 with some chalk, banana smoothie, and orange rind left in the finish. not a standout.. willibrew needs to be more selective about their IPA releases.. either go with a traditional favorite, go with something balls-to-the-wall (*see upcoming ipa2squared*) or put the hops down in favor of something new.
