German-style refillable growler filled at the brewpub.
First imperial pint pours with a 1/4" tan head, over the clear garnet brown brew. The creamy dense head falls promptly to an uneven swirly layer of bubbles, with plenty of sticking lace. Aroma is of ample grains, with light bitter notes. Taste is balanced, with the nose's ample maltiness equalled by the moderate bitterness of hops. Mouthfeel is small-bubbled and soft on the tongue, with excellent drinkability. Sometimes browns can be boring, but this one is a good representative sample.

Dark brown color with some ruby red edges. No head on this cask ale.
Smell is dark fruit with alcohol. I've never had a beer this light in ABV that smelled so strongly of alcohol.
Alcohol flavors come through a bit. Also there was some coffee on the tongue. Hops were a bit light but there was some bittering and flavor to them.
This was my first cask ale. Maybe I don't know how to review them, but to me the mouthfeel didn't feel right. I'm not used to it, but the low low carbonation didn't sit right in my mouth. Little tough to drink at such a warm temperature. Alcohol was too strong for its style.
