Reviewed on 8/21/09. Cask at the brewpub. Pours a dark amber with a thick white head that quickly dissipates. Aroma is loaded with caramel as well as dark porter malts, toffee, chocolate, mocha, and nougat. Flavor of light malts and oat up front with chocolate, toffee, coffee, and hot fudge in the finish. A complex and enjoyable beer (not your average "red" ale).

Draught @ Brewpub: This one poured a hazy, reddish amber color. There was a small white head on it that left a little lacing. The aroma is roasty, with caramel malts also. The taste is a bit roasty, with hints of coffee and caramel malts. Slightly bitter. Very Good!

This was across the board good, not outstanding, but very good. Brewed as a bold Red Ale featuring Mt Rainer hops and a touch of oats for smoothness, 5.5%abv. It was a little tough to tell what style Red they were shooting but I assume it was the an American Red Ale because it wasn't like any Irish Red I've ever had.
It was well balanced and went down smoothly with a slight head. Get it while it lasts.
