Served on-tap on 11/12/2010 at Willimantic Brewing Co.
A: Dark, amber colored ale with a thin, wispy head of white carbonation. Good clarity and moderate carbonation.
S: Grainy and slightly fruity malt bouquet with some lightly citrus and herbal hop aromas. Baked bread quality with some hop resins kicking around.
T: Clean, toasted and sweet German malt blend with a fine, grainy cracker taste. A bit of toffee and caramel sweetness balanced by light, fruity ale flavors and a spicy, mild hop finish.
M: Medium-bodied quaffer with a pretty clean, even-keeled finish.
D: I thought this particular "Fest-styled" brew was as unassuming as it was blase. At 5.5% ABV, it would be a popular choice for someone looking for a house-made marzen with fine-enough tastes and an almost intangible, home brewed quality.
