On-tap at the brewpub. This one was their What's Hoppening? IPA fermented with French Saison yeast.
A: Cloudy orange body under a wispy scum of tan bubbles. Kinda ugly.
S: Fascinating blend of fruity hops and spicy phenolic yeast. This really does smell like an IPA/Saison hybrid, with neither style winning out. Lovely.
T: Yeastiness dominates up front, with peppery phenols being the main attraction. The citrusy and tropical fruity notes from the hops build in behind, and the finish is very dry, clean, and distinctly fruity. Great.
M: Light-to-medium body with ultra-fine carbonation. Good.
O: I'm usually not a huge fan of Belgian IPAs, but this spicy twist on the style was absolutely delicious. The best Willibrew offering of the day.
Cheers!
