Draught @ Brewpub: This one pours an opaque, inky very dark brown. It had a thin tan head that left a fair amount of lacing. The nose is a bit lighter than expected. Get some chocolate and roasty notes. Some pine and citrus hops hiding underneath. The taste is very good. Chocolate, with a definite hop presence. No sweetness, but not much of a bite either. Chocolate malts and grapefruit hop tastes are predominate. Good malt body.

Had this on tap at the Willimantic Brewery in Willimantic, CT. Poured into a pint glass. A truly wonderful imperial black ale with lots of roasted malts, bitter hops, and just enough sweetness to carry it through as an enjoyable brew. Lovely to look at and even better to drink. I considered taking home a growler of it, even. If you see this again at some point, get it! I wish Willimantic were better known nationally so that people could enjoy it!
