Birrificio Del Doge "Rauch Me Baby"
50cl brown glass bottle "Best Before: 07.02.19 L121/17"
8€ @ Birraria La Corte, Venice, IT on 25 June 2018
Notes: Dark mahogany body beneath a creamy head of light tan foam. Very good head retention and lacing. Aroma of soft smoke with a hint of ham, and caramelish malt. The flavor is richer and fuller than the aroma but exactly the same. The smoke isn't that strong but it's very clear. It's not at the Schlenkerla level but it does become the main note, followed by golden to medium caramel. It's moderately bitter but still semi-dry in the finish with some caramel and mild smokiness lingering. Medium bodied with a moderate carbonation level. This is a really nicely balanced beer that delivers the smoiness while remaining soft and quaffable.
