Yeah yeah, we know, not all mother in laws are dry and sour. Some are actually quite tolerable maybe even sweet. But you get the picture. This Belgium style farmhouse ale is brewed with Japanese Sorachi Ace hops and spiced with Coriander, Orange Peel and Grains of Paradise. Thanks to special yeast type it is dry like English humour. Or your mother in law. Imagine her sourpuss face when she is not happy with you. That’s exactly how you feel when drinking this pretty Saison.

330 ml bottle, from Bris Ølutsalg, Jørpeland. ABV is 4.7%, 40 IBU. Hops are Citra, EKG, Syrian Goldings and Sorachi Ace. Spiced with orange peel, coriander and Grains of Paradise. Pale straw colour, large white head. Aroma of lactic acid, lemons, orange peel and mild spices. Definitely sour flavour, but not quite as extreme as I expected. Distinct spices, and fairly sharp bittering hops in the finish.

Very light, greenish yellow, lightly opalescent, on finger of foam, average.
Spicy smell, coriander and orange peel, and a sweet fruitiness.
Some saison yeast., hop, peach.
The taste has some yeast notes, then the spices of the smell, and a finishing sweet and exotic fruitiness, for a good dryness, great drinkability and freshness.
For sure, not a traditional saison, but it is fresh, pleasant and interesting.
