1717 Red Ale (bottle says it's made in Bavaria) has a thin, ivory head, a mostly clear (cloudy, following the "swish & pour"), rust-red appearance, with charged bubble streams and some lacing. Aroma is of sourish, tannic malts and citrus, and the flavor is similar, with mild bitterness and some sweetness & bread crust. Mouthfeel is medium, and 1717 finishes mostly dry.

Murky amber color with beige head. Aroma has some faint fruity notes and light toasted malt. Taste follows, slightly fruity, toasted malt, more bitter and earthy on the finish. Also a slight metallic flavor. Medium body and carbonation. Overall it's a decent amber ale but it has its flaws.
