This is a review of the 2019 version.

L: Poured from a bottle to a snifter glass. Had a coal black color and a thick, opaque consistency. There was a quarter inch of foamy, tan-colored head that quickly dissipated. Above average lacing.

S: A very enticing aroma of coffee, chocolate, malt, booze, maple syrup, and coconut.

T: Tasted of a bit of malt (a subtle presence compared to the other ingredients), a hint of coconut, lots of chocolate (always a nice choice), some maple syrup notes (quite sweet), a good shot of booze (the advertised cognac, and its barrels), and some coffee as well. This is a big, complex, and powerful flavor. Delicious.

F: A below average amount of carbonation with a silky smooth finish. Medium- to full-bodied.

O: A thoroughly enjoyable beer. Drinkable.

From label: "Imperial Stout brewed with coffee, cacao nibs, maple syrup, coconut, and natural flavors. Aged in maple syrup bourbon barrels." Poured into the Benchtop 2nd Anniversary glass.

Pours a beautiful jet black with a quick-to-dissolve one-finger mocha head. Small, tight bubbles. Lovely coconut and coffee aromatics waft up and definitely make this beer shine. Brownie fudge. Smooth mocha and coconut sweetness. The booze is well-hidden. Full-bodied. The carbonation lifts this a bit from being too heavy on the palate, greatly increasing the drinkability. The right amount of richness for pure enjoyment delivered to my chunky belly. Excellent stuff, Benchtop.
