I don't see a date listed on the can or label.
Appearance: The body is a pale straw gold color with a bit of haze and tons of visible carbonation. The head is short, white, and somewhat creamy but it dissipates pretty quickly, leaving a few continents of foam and a wide-spaced bubble ring. Not much in the way of lacing.
Aroma: There really isn't anything at all coming through on the nose. There is only a very light metallic odor when the glass is cupped over and when inhaling deeply.
Taste: There is a light bit of sourness up front with a touch of urea character, then towards the middle of the mouth it picks up a bit of a wheat cracker flavor that is very light. There is a light tart character in the back of the mouth and aftertaste but as a whole this beer is pretty light on flavor.
Mouthfeel: It is light bodied, wet feeling on the palate, and refreshing. Carbonation feels high. There is a very light puckering tartness to the beer and no bitterness. The can states that this is "6.5% ABV" and the beer does a fantastic job of hiding the alcohol.
Overall: The can states that this is a "DRY HOPPED GOSE MADE WITH CARROTS AND BUTTERNUT SQUASH." The carrots and butternut squash never reveal themselves in either the aroma or flavor. As a Gose it floats just below average with the lacking aroma and flavor. The highlight of the beer is its high drinkability and how refreshing it is. As a whole I would not buy it again and I would not recommend it.
It's really strange that this beer turned out this way, because Benchtop has another beer called Quick Pickle which is a Gose made with carrots and cucumbers which is outstanding. I would recommend it over this.
