In black ink on a light colored label, near the barcode: "12/18/24"
This was purchased from a shelf (non-refrigerated).
Appearance: The body is a medium shade of orange-gold that is nearly opaque in the glass. Some faint shadows are visible when held against a strong light but otherwise it appears fully opaque in natural light. It has a short fluffy white head. It has a bit of head retention and there are some thin strings of lacing.
Aroma: It has a light bit of spicy hop aroma. There is a hint of mineral aroma.
Taste: Up front it is slightly fruity with a bit of grape and cherry. These fruity flavors get stronger towards the middle. It has a grape skin flavor towards the finish.
Mouthfeel: It has a bit of a bitter, astringent, and slightly acidic character which hampers drinkability a bit. Mouthfeel is light, dry, and astringent.
Overall: As a whole the beer was too fruity and it had too much astringency and acidity. The label on the can states "FOEDER PROJECT" however no perceivable foeder character exists. The lack of foeder wood notes isn't a detractor but it's worth mentioning. As a whole the beer felt more like a person following a recipe from a book without tasting it which leads to something that feels off. There are much better beers to try from Benchtop so I would recommend passing on this one and trying out a different one. This isn't a beer I would buy again.

Honestly, I think I picked up a skunked can on this one. Was part of the build your own 6-pack section at local purveyor. Starts way too perfumey for my tastes, and there is nothing in the finish to indicate fermenting in wood or dortmunder in general. Would have liked to have tried on site from the tap.
