Next to the bar code on the label of the can: "07/13/22"
Appearance: The body is a pale gold color that is cloudy. It has a large fluffy white head that has good retention and some lacing.
Aroma: A soft clove aroma hits the nose at first with hints of white pepper. There is a light aroma of banana chips that traipses beneath the more spice-forward scents.
Taste: Up front of the palate has a clove flavor with a light earthy flavor that takes on a bit of a twig-note. The middle is a little bit of cedar wood and some alcohol character. The alcohol pops up from time to time so it isn't always present on the palate. The flavors remain fairly earthy towards the back of the mouth and in the finish.
Mouthfeel: It is medium-bodied with an earthy bitterness that feels a bit stronger than the usual Hefeweizen. Carbonation feels good.
Overall: The label on the can states that this is "MADE WITH WHEAT MALT PILSNER MALT HALLERTAU HERSBRUCKER HOPS." As a whole the beer has a good aroma and it does have a lot of flavor. It is a bit more robust in flavor, earthiness, and bitterness than a typical Hefeweizen but people will most likely enjoy it for what it is. It is worth trying out at least a can or pour of the beer. I could drink it from time to time but it wouldn't be my first pick for a Hefeweizen. On the positive-side, although it is more earthy and bitter, the more robust flavor profile is better than some of the average Hefeweizens on the market.
