I don't see a date listed on the can or the label.
Appearance: The body is a lighter gold color that is very hazy to the point that only rough shapes are visible through it. The head is on the short side but it has a rocky texture and it has excellent head retention. The beer leaves fantastic looking lacing.
Aroma: Up fromt a yeast aroma hits the nose. Next some lime aroma comes through which smells like key lime pie. There is also a white pepper scent that comes through. As a whole the aromas are interesting but they don't meld together really well and they are a bit subdued. Each individual component is nice though.
Taste: Up front there is a bit of a lime flavor followed by some yeast character as it crosses over the palate. The middle of the palate tastes a bit like yeast rolls with some bready notes. Towards the back of the palate there is some white pepper and it finishes with a bit of a lime zest finish.
Mouthfeel: It is lighter bodied with only a touch of bitterness which is like drinking grapefruit juice. It drinks well.
Overall: It is a bit of an odd beer. The beer has a lot of yeasty and bready aromas and flavors but there are also notes of pepper and a bit of citrus in the form of key lime pie. The can says that this is made with "BARLEY MALT WHEAT MALT FLAKED WHEAT CARAMALT CASHMERE HOPS WAI-ITI HOPS MEYER LEMON ZEST." The lemon zest seems to come across a bit more lime-like. As a whole the beer is good but it feels a bit mis-matched. I would still drink it again but it would have to be for a specific occasion. This would pair well in a situation where you would normally want a Saison. I would recommend it to people who enjoy a Saison more than people who are looking for an IPA.
