Near the barcode on the can, stamped in ink onto the label: "11/30/22"
Appearance: The body is a medium shade of copper and dulled gold, with a very light bit of cloudiness to the beer. It looks like a slightly hazy sunset. The head starts off oversized, fluffy and white. The head eventually settles to a medium size with large pillows of lace. It has excellent retention and it leaves some nice lacing on the glass.
Aroma: There is some grapefruit and a bit of tangerine. It smells a bit like rye flour and fresh grains. A little bit of alcohol comes through. Mostly the beer has a freshly crushed grain aroma which is pleasant.
Taste: Up front there is a bit of lemon with a touch of spruce. It quickly takes on a bready flavor towards the middle of the palate with some wheat cracker and rosemary. Towards the back of the palate it has a good deal of grapefruit flavor which lingers on the palate long after the sip is done.
Mouthfeel: It feels on the lower edge of medium-bodied with a touch of slickness. It has a noticeably chewy mouthfeel which seems to dull the edge of the bitterness but also shallow it. It does have a strong bitterness, especially for a Pale Ale.
Overall: The beer as a whole is enjoyable. It has a lot of grain flavor which is nice but that character also seems to cut into the hops a bit. The chewiness also hampers drinkability a tad. Still though the flavors are good so if you know what to expect from this beer and don't mind it, the beer will certainly not disappoint. I could drink it again from time to time.
