I don't see any date code on the can or the label.

Appearance: The body of the beer is a medium shade of orange. The body is nearly opaque, allowing only very fuzzy and indecipherable shadows through the glass. The head is very large, fluffy, and white. It has excellent head retention and it leaves nice sheets of lacing on the glass.

Aroma: The aroma on the nose immediately is chili powder. Then there is a very strong scent of jalapeños. It smells so much like a jalapeño popper that my mind kept telling me that I was smelling cheese. Each time the nose approached the glass it was reinforced that there is only a pepper aroma and no cheese. It is impossible to express how much pepper aroma is in this beer.

Taste: Up front there is a strong green pepper flavor with a bit of garlic and mango. The middle of the palate is pretty much the same, but there is a light bit of white pepper flavor. It finishes with some mango. The flavors don't develop much on the palate and they aren't very complex, but they are nice.

Mouthfeel: It is smooth and on the lighter side when it comes to body. It has very low bitterness, which has a bit of a citrus pith quality. On the heat index this beer is a 0. Aside from some pepper flavor it has no heat at all.

Overall: The aroma for this beer is fantastic and the fruity flavors are very nice. Texture and appearance-wise the beer is closest to a New England IPA. As a whole I really enjoyed the beer, especially when it came to the aroma, but I found the lack of any heat to be disappointing. Chile Beers aren't for everyone because they are often hot or have odd and unwelcome flavor or aroma notes that are simply a byproduct of the peppers used. This beer does a fantastic job of showcasing the wonderful aroma and flavor of a jalapeño, but it also brings in flavors and textures to give the drinker something else to appreciate. This would be a good beer to recommend to a person who might like the flavor of peppers but does not want the heat. Although it is lacking in heat I would still buy it again because it does such a good job of showcasing the pepper and the base beer is so good. I would definitely like to try a habanero or scotch bonnet version of this.
